Philly is home to all kinds of innovative fashion-related adventures. We’ve written about some awesome local designers and their popup shop experiences here and here. Right around the corner from ShareMySpace headquarters is the little studio featured in Project Runway Season 12, where season winner and local heroine Dom Streater worked her magic. And another block over is the headquarters and flagship store of the clothier, environmental crusader, and cafe host United by Blue.
United by Blue, founded in 2010, makes outdoor apparel that’s built to last. That’s part of an overall company philosophy that aims to reduce waste and negative environmental impact. But they don’t stop there. They have also made a commitment to remove one pound of trash from the nation’s waterways for each product sold. They don’t just make donations to environmental organizations: they actually organize huge groups of volunteers to personally clean up garbage from rivers and beaches. They’ve done cleanups in 21 states to date, from Maine to Florida and D.C. to Seattle.
The flagship store — also a coffeehouse — is located on 2nd Street in the heart of Old City. And their beautiful space is available to rent for private events! There are three different spaces within the building: first, the main floor, where the coffeehouse and showroom (pictured above) can be yours for a party, a private brunch, a networking event, or any other modestly-sized gathering. There’s a coffee bar with a fridge and two sinks that makes serving food and cleaning up afterward a breeze.
Then there’s a cozy office space on the second floor, with two large conference tables and 6-8 individual workstations, which could be taken over for a coworking event or business meeting. There’s even a projector available for movie screenings:
The third floor has more great office space. There’s a top-secret 300 square foot conference room with a gorgeous wooden conference table and a huge whiteboard. If you need to teach a seminar, host a small conference, or meet with a select group of fellow archvillains to plot world domination, this is your space!
So, if you’re looking to rent a very cool space from a company that’s concerned about making the world they share a better place, check out United by Blue today! And if you’d like to sign up for United by Blue’s next waterway cleanup, in Bartram’s Garden, Philadelphia, on April 1, you can do so here.
