The Rittenhouse: Timeless Elegance in Center City Philadelphia

Today we’re shining the spotlight on one of ShareMySpace‘s formal venues, The Rittenhouse luxury hotel in downtown Philadelphia. The Rittenhouse has a number of spaces perfect for elegant weddings, like the Grand Salon (pictured above), the Grand Ballroom, and the Mary Cassatt Tea Room:

The hotel also hosts many other types of events: executive meetings, bar and bat mitzvahs, cocktail hours, and so forth. It’s a venue with a reputation for the most cordial service in the city: a place where guests can feel like royalty.

The Mary Cassatt Tea Room, by the way, got its name because the American painter Mary Cassatt’s brother lived in a mansion on this property before the hotel was built. Mary was a Pennsylvania native and began her artistic education at Philadelphia’s Academy of the Fine Arts, before moving to Paris to continue painting. Later the Cassatt mansion became the headquarters of the Episcopal Church in the State of Pennsylvania, before the hotel that currently occupies the property was built in the 1960s.

So the hotel is drenched in Philadelphia’s history as a social and artistic center of the young United States. It overlooks Rittenhouse Square and is convenient to Walnut Street boutique shopping as well as cultural events at the Curtis Institute of Music, the Rosenbach Museum & Library, and the Philadelphia Art Alliance.
