Sometimes you don’t need an enormous venue for a 200-person event. Sometimes, all you want is to host a quiet, intimate party. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be highlighting venues that are perfect for smaller gatherings like anniversary dinners, birthdays, and office outings. If you’re looking for a small private room in a bar with a lot of character or a patio area bordered with flowers for a party to welcome spring, stay tuned!
1. Our first highlight is the Happy Rooster pub in Center City Philadelphia. Since 1968, this quirky spot has been charming locals. It’s possible to buy out the entire restaurant for a huge event, but there’s also a back bar area (pictured above) that’s perfect for smaller, more intimate occasions. The menu features local, seasonal produce, a fantastic selection of fine cheeses, and various incarnations of lobster — including, currently, a lobster mac & cheese.
The maximum capacity for this space, 45, will easily accommodate a family birthday or rehearsal dinner-sized gathering. The laid-back, merry atmosphere of this Philly institution is sure to make your party a relaxed and memorable occasion!Book it now!
2. If a bakery cafe atmosphere suits your event better than a pub, check out Cake and the Beanstalk! Located in Washington Square West, the cafe’s Garden View Dining Room overlooks the exuberant greenery of Sartain Street Community Garden. It’s an ideal setup for luncheons, bridal and baby showers, birthdays, sweet sixteens, book clubs, meetings, and more. Cake & the Beanstalk will also host tea parties, with all the fixings. Tea parties!
This is a kid-friendly venue, so if you’re looking to host a small children’s party, or even just a grown-up party where people can feel comfortable bringing their kids, this is your place. The cafe features a hand-painted children’s table and keeps coloring books and Legos on hand to entertain the little ones. It also offers a children’s birthday party package with crafts, stories, face painting, baking, and cupcake decorating available.Book it now!
